The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the rescue of Fauziyah Muhammed, a 19-year-old 400-level English Education student of Abubakar Audu University, Ayangba, Kogi State.

She was reportedly abducted in Ayangba on Sunday morning and taken into the bush.

A search was launched for her since then but there was no clue until Monday when Fauziyah was found.

Dr. Umar Muhammed, the NSCDC state commandant, revealed that Fauziyah was discovered on Egbejila Road, Ajegunle-Isale community, by residents who alerted the authorities.

He explained that the student appeared incoherent and traumatised, indicating the severe ordeal she had endured.

Residents who found her provided clothing for her before handing her over to an NSCDC officer.

The command later informed Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who pledged support to facilitate her return to Kogi State.

Fauziyah, during an interview, recounted losing consciousness after dropping a book but could not recall how she arrived in Kwara.

In a related case, the NSCDC paraded Abu Usman Soja, suspected of aiding kidnappers who abducted a woman and her two children in Ajase-Ipo, Kwara.

The abductors initially demanded a ransom of ₦50 million, later reducing it to ₦15 million. Although the mother was released, the children remain missing, with the kidnappers evading capture.
