Senior Special Assistant on Print Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Wale Ajetunmobi, has reacted after a tweet he made led to his suspension.

On Nov. 23, he made a comment alleging that arsonists who torched the Television Continental (TVC) head office in Lagos during the #EndSARS protest in 2020 were “hunted and executed.”

A follower immediately responded asking him if he was acknowledging being privy to extra-judicial k!llings.

Ajetumobi, apparently seeing the import of his tweet in the light of the follower’s comment tried to explain what he meant.

The tweet got to the awareness of Governor Sanwo-Olu who ordered his suspension immediately.

The governor accused him of “misrepresentation of fact”.

Reacting following his suspension, Ajetunmobi wrote on X: “My only and final response to this misrepresentation…

“This excerpt was quoted out of context and there were series of comments made under the same post, which better explained what was intended.

“Like I did further explained under the said tweet, no extra-judicial killing was insinuated. The word “executed” was erroneously used and not intended in the context of that casual conversation.

“What was written in the entire conversation reflected personal opinion, and not the position of any authority or the entity in which I work.

“The post and other comments had been taken down, even before this publication.”
