The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of a US-based Nigerian, Sunday Abidoye, whose lifeless body was discovered in his hotel room at Creestar Hotel, GRA, Sagamu, on Wednesday.

According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, nine different drugs and medications were found in the deceased’s room.

The incident was reported by the hotel’s Chief Security Officer, Mr. Oluwole, five days after Abidoye’s arrival from the United States.

Police detectives dispatched to the scene found the body already placed in a car outside the hotel, ready for transportation to the morgue by family members.

The deceased’s brother, Jimoh Godday, informed investigators that Abidoye had arrived in Nigeria on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Godday visited the hotel on Monday but received no response after knocking on Abidoye’s door.

Using a spare key, he discovered the body inside the room.

A friend of the deceased, Ogunmonti Ogunwole, confirmed accompanying Abidoye to purchase medications the previous day due to complaints of illness.

Police recovered various drugs, traditional medicines, and observed a liquid substance on the bed.

The body was transported to OOUTH Sagamu for an autopsy, while the case is under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department.
