A Tanzanian mother has gone viral after a video of her breastfeeding her 17-year-old son emerged online.

The video shows the boy putting his head on her lap while she brings out her bre@st for him to suckle.

The mother later fielded questions from a reporter from Foxe TV who sought to know why she continued to breastfeed her son beyond the normal threshold.

Reactions online are mostly against her and her son, as many suggested that the woman might have a mental condition that required intervention.

However, it is reported that many men in Tanzania have an unusual attraction to breast milk.

The Tanzanian government recently issued a warning to men to stop competing for breast milk with their babies.

Handeni District Commissioner Toba Nguvila during an event to mark World Breastfeeding Week among women in August said the trend could negatively affect growing babies and the health of the men’s spouses.

The commissioner revealed that a section of women complained about their men craving breast milk to the extent of denying their children of the much-needed nutrients.

She said the trend was fueled by speculation that breast milk improves sexual performance and muscle building among men.

Other reports indicated that similar speculations are widespread in the East African region, especially in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
