Police arrest Ondo prophetess after church member and her baby d!e in childbirth
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested Prophetess Folashade Kikiowo Adekola following the tragic deaths of a 28-year-old woman, Jumoke Adesuwa, and her newborn child.
The incident reportedly occurred after Adesuwa suffered severe bleeding from childbirth complications at Adekola’s church, Christ Engracing Deliverance Ministry, located in the Oke-Aro area of Akure.
According to reports, Adesuwa had gone to the church without informing her husband, Ayodele Adesuwa, for a “spiritual” preparation for childbirth, staying there for several days.
Despite prior financial support from her husband to seek care at a government hospital, she chose to remain in the church for the delivery.
The newborn died immediately, and Adesuwa, found in a critical condition, was rushed to multiple hospitals.
However, she was rejected due to her worsening state and eventually, she passed away in the final hospital that accepted her.
Upon discovering the disturbing state of the church’s makeshift delivery room, Adesuwa’s family reported the matter to the Oke-Aro Police Station, prompting the prophetess’s arrest.
Police spokesperson Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed that Adekola is now in custody for further investigation, with Adesuwa’s remains transferred to a mortuary.
