Calls for revocation of Elon Musk’s US citizenship increase after video of his brother admitting they were once illegal immigrants resurfaces (Video)
Aggrieved democrats have resumed calls for the revocation of the US citizenship of the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, after a video of Kimbal Musk admitting on camera that he and his brother were once illegal immigrants in the United States of America resurfaced.
This followed the victory of former US President, Donald Trump at the just-concluded presidential election.
Trump was aggressively promoted by Elon Musk, who supported his campaign with over $100 billion.
Like Trump, Musk has spent most of this past year demonising illegal immigrants, with one Bloomberg analysis showing that he has posted around 1,300 times on X this year about immigration issues.
A Washington Post’s report, however, alleged that he was himself an illegal immigrant in the US at a point in his life.
The Post in their report stated that Elon Musk worked illegally in the United States in the 1990s, citing “former business associates, court records and company documents.”
According to the report, Musk obtained a student visa to attend a graduate school at Stanford but did not enroll in classes.
He allegedly started working on an online services startup that would eventually be known as Zip2.
Investors allegedly reached an agreement with Musk and his brother, Kimbal, to fund their innovative business if they could obtain authorization to work in the US within 45 days.
Elon Musk has since denied the allegations, describing them as lies.
However, some people have dug out a 2013 video of his brother, Kimbal Musk, stating in an interview that also featured Elon Musk, that they were both illegal immigrants in the US at a point in their lives.
In the interview at the Milken Institute Global Conference, Elon and Kimbal talked about the hardships they faced during their move from South Africa to Canada and later to the United States.
The brothers also talked about how difficult it was to get funding for their startup at the time, and how their status threatened to ruin the funding they finally secured.
Kimbal Musk said, “When they did fund us, they realized that we were illegal immigrants.”
Elon quickly interjected with, “Well, I mean…,” but was cut short by his younger brother, who insisted that they indeed “were illegal immigrants.”
Musk Elon then said, “I’d say it was a grey area” and the crowd burst out in laughter.
Some Democrats are now calling on President Joe Biden to probe the matter and strip Elon Musk of his citizenship if it is established he lied on his immigration forms.
