Equatorial Guinea’s government has dismissed Baltasar Ebang Engonga, Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), amid a s*x scandal of global proportions.
It would be recalled that the official has attracted global attention after clips of his bedroom escapades with the wives of many dignitaries were leaked online.
Some of the women linked to him included his brother’s wife, the wife of the vice president, and the wife of the inspector general of police, among others.
A statement from the government of the country formalized Engonga’s dismissal through Decree No. 118/2024, dated November 4, citing “alleged misconduct in office” and behaviour deemed “incompatible with public office.”
“According to Real Equatorial Guinea, the dismissal of Mr. Engonga, the son of Baltasar Engonga Edjo (current president of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa, CEMAC), was formalised in Decree No. 118/2024, dated November 4.
“The decree cited Mr Engonga’s alleged misconduct in office and his family-related and social behaviour as incompatible with public office,” the government said in a statement.
Engonga is notably the son of Baltasar Engonga Edjo, the current president of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC).
Before his dismissal, Equatorial Guinea’s First Lady, Mrs. Constancia Mangue de Obiang reacted to the scandal and called for urgent government action to safeguard the dignity of Equatoguinean women in the digital age.
