Woman poisons boyfriend thinking he stood to inherit $30m
A North Dakota, United States of America woman, Ina Thea Kenoyer, has been sentenced to prison for fatally poisoning her boyfriend after being convinced he had inherited $30 million.
Kenoyer, 48, pleaded guilty to murdering her longtime boyfriend, Steven Edward Riley Jr., by lacing his drink with antifreeze.
Kenoyer had believed Riley was set to receive a multimillion-dollar inheritance, which led her to commit the heinous crime in September 2023.
It turned out that the inheritance was a scam.
Kenoyer executed her deadly plan, resulting in Riley’s death on September 5, 2023, at a Bismarck hospital.
Following her arrest, Kenoyer admitted to the poisoning, and she was charged with murder.
On Wednesday, she was sentenced after pleading guilty, concluding a case that has gripped the local community.
Authorities emphasized that there was no truth to the supposed inheritance that drove Kenoyer to commit this crime.
Riley had never stood to inherit any money, making the tragedy all the more senseless.
