FG’s house gift to judges will enhance judicial efficiency – Chief Justice of Nigeria
The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has lauded the Federal Government’s initiative to build 40 housing units for judges in the Katampe District of Abuja.
She noted that this housing project would significantly improve the performance of judicial officers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony on Monday, Justice Kekere-Ekun emphasized that a conducive living environment is essential for judges to fully concentrate on their demanding responsibilities.
“Beyond the courtroom, a peaceful and secure residence is vital to allow judicial officers to focus on the heavy duties entrusted to them,” she remarked.
She further explained that the housing initiative reflects the government’s commitment to supporting judicial officers, adding that their well-being is closely tied to their work performance.
The event was attended by key figures, including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who stressed the importance of robust welfare packages for judges.
Wike confirmed that 70% of the project’s funds had been released.
