NNPC jerks up petrol price again, now N998 per litre in Lagos

Fuel pump

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has, again adjusted the price of petrol upwards, taking it to N998 per litre in Lagos and above N1,000 per litre in other cities across Nigeria.

This marks another sharp rise in fuel prices, causing widespread concern among citizens already grappling with inflation and a high cost of living.

The price hike, which took effect on Wednesday, has led to long queues at petrol stations as people rush to fill their tanks before prices climb further.

The fuel, which previously sold for N885 per litre, now stands nearly 13% higher in Lagos, with prices surpassing the N1,000 mark in some regions, fueling more frustration among Nigerians.

This latest development follows several months of rising costs, driven by the removal of fuel subsidies and fluctuating market conditions.

As the government seeks to manage the economic impacts, Nigerians continue to question how they will cope with the mounting financial pressure.
