No fewer than eight people were killed and several others injured in a mass shooting at a Tel Aviv light rail station, according to Israeli media.

The attack, described by police as a terror incident, took place in Israel’s commercial capital, near the boundary with Jaffa, a port city near Tel Aviv.

Two assailants reportedly began shooting passengers on the Tel Aviv light rail before continuing their rampage on foot.

Civilians and inspectors armed with personal pistols managed to neutralize the attackers before they could cause further harm. Police confirmed that four civilians were killed, and seven others sustained injuries of varying severity.

The attack occurred just minutes before Iran launched a missile barrage at Israel, further escalating tensions in the region.

Footage from the scene shows the gunmen disembarking from a tram and opening fire, while videos circulating on social media depict several bodies on the ground, including what appears to be one of the attackers.

The Israeli Magen David Adom ambulance service received emergency calls starting at 7:01 PM local time. Authorities are investigating the incident as part of ongoing security efforts in the volatile region.
