The Lagos State government has intensified its efforts to maintain law and order on the roads by impounding 241 unlicensed vehicles.

The exercise, carried out by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), was aimed at curbing the growing number of unregistered and improperly licensed vehicles across the state.

A statement by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the crackdown was part of a broader initiative to ensure that all vehicles operating within the state complied with necessary safety and regulatory standards.

The Commissioner emphasized that unlicensed vehicles posed significant risks to road safety and security.

The government has urged motorists to ensure that their vehicles are properly registered and licensed to avoid sanctions.

The impounded vehicles will remain in custody until the owners fulfil all legal requirements, including registration and payment of fines.

This operation is in line with the state’s commitment to improving road safety and reducing the number of illegal vehicles contributing to traffic issues in Lagos.
