A squad of anti-riot policemen engaged young Nigerians taking part in the “October 1” protest against bad governance in Abuja this afternoon, October 1, 2024.
The policemen fired tear gas canisters into the midst of the protesters, sending them in various directions.
The young Nigerians had gathered at the Utako area in Abuja, waving the Nigerian Green-White-Green flag and bearing placards with various inscriptions such as “EndBadGovernance”, “DiasporaVoting”, “EndHighLivingCosts”, amongst others.
All seemed to be well until the policemen fired tear gas at the protesters and chaos ensued.
