A series of multiple-vehicle crashes along a major highway in Lagos have left five people injured and several cattle dead.
The accidents occurred early Monday morning, causing significant disruption to traffic and raising safety concerns in the area.
According to eyewitness reports, the crashes involved a truck carrying cattle, a commercial bus, and several private vehicles.
The truck reportedly lost control due to a brake failure, colliding with the other vehicles. In the aftermath, some of the cattle on board the truck were killed instantly, while others were left injured and scattered across the road.
Emergency responders, including personnel from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), arrived at the scene to assist the victims and manage the wreckage.
The five injured individuals were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition is said to be stable.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crashes. In the meantime, traffic around the area has been redirected, and efforts are underway to clear the road and ensure normal flow resumes.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety and the condition of vehicles, especially trucks, operating on Lagos roads.
