The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended a woman for allegedly abducting a 7-day-old baby girl during a naming ceremony in Keffi Local Government Area.
In a statement released on Sunday, September 29, 2024, by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, it was revealed that the suspect, identified as Khadija Aliyu, had been pretending to be pregnant.
“On September 28, 2024, at approximately 6:30 PM, police operatives from the Keffi Division arrested Khadija Aliyu for stealing a seven-day-old baby girl during a naming ceremony,” the statement said.
According to the police, Aliyu attended the event near the INEC office in Keffi, where she covertly entered a house, stole the baby while she was sleeping, concealed the child in a veil, and fled. She was later apprehended by authorities.
