A 14-year-old girl from Vermont, Isabelle Vezina-Dykeman, tragically ended her life after enduring severe bullying at her school. Isabelle was a freshman at the Mill School in Winooski, a specialized high school for students with complex needs.
According to reports, Isabelle was cruelly targeted by classmates over her mother’s health condition. Her mother, Heather Miller, had recently undergone brain surgery, which left her with a permanently closed eye. Classmates mocked both Isabelle and her mother, sending hurtful messages even after school hours.
Heather described her daughter as “spunky,” full of life, and passionate about dancing and ice skating. “She was excited about the new school year,” Miller said, recalling the joy Isabelle initially felt about being a freshman.
On September 15, Isabelle returned home visibly upset after another day of torment. Hoping to give her daughter space, Heather left her alone, not knowing how quickly their lives would change. Just 35 minutes later, Isabelle took her own life.
The Mill School is investigating the bullying claims and expressed deep sorrow over the loss. Isabelle’s organs were donated, saving the lives of seven people, including a child who received her eyes and regained sight.
