The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has pledged that stringent actions will be taken against any official found culpable in the ongoing investigation into the alleged preferential treatment of convicted crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.

Bobrisky, sentenced to six months in prison, is accused of being granted special privileges, including accommodation outside the correctional facility.

Speaking during a media briefing in Abuja on Friday, Dr. Tunji-Ojo confirmed the suspension of several senior officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to facilitate a transparent investigation.

He assured the public that no one involved in the scandal would be shielded, stating, “We will not spare anybody, no matter how highly placed.”

The minister also expressed confidence in the investigation committee, led by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani. The panel includes civil society representatives to ensure impartiality.

As the investigation continues, Tunji-Ojo urged patience, reaffirming that the government is committed to ensuring accountability.
