A Sierra Leonean man, Hassana Jalloh, is facing prosecution for allegedly bludgeoning his wife to de@th with a hammer and knife in Columbus, United States of America.

Police say the man confessed that he let their three children leave for school before attacking his wife, Mariama Bah, 32 in their home on the city’s Northeast Side.

Jalloh placed a call to the emergency number 911, announcing, “I k!lled my wife” repeatedly.

Policemen arrived at the couple’s Yorkhull Lane, Northland area home around 9:20 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found 32-year-old Mariama Bah unresponsive, suffering from blunt force trauma. Paramedics from the Columbus Division of Fire pronounced Bah dead at 9:37 a.m.

She was a practising nurse and a mother of three kids still in kindergarten.

Hassana Jalloh, 55, the victim’s husband, was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with aggravated murder and premeditated aggravated murder.

In body cam footage released by the police, Jalloh can be heard saying that they were arguing and she pushed him down the stairs. He said he then got the hammer and k!lled her.

According to court records, Jalloh admitted to using a hammer and knife in the attack and told investigators he waited until the children left for school before carrying out the crime.

Jalloh’s nephew also called the police saying he believed his uncle had just k!lled his wife.

He told the police through a French interpreter that he heard the sound of the victim being struck and witnessed her bleeding.

The nephew fled the scene and dialled 911.

A neighbour of the couple, Frank Peterson, described the incident as shocking as he saw Jalloh as a pleasant man who greeted him warmly and often came to his door to inquire if his children needed anything.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Bah’s death.

There has been a surge in the incidents of men k!lling their wives in the African community in the United States of America, raising concerns about the increasing failure of some of the couples to manage the clash of cultures between their African and American cultural values.
