The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called for an urgent investigation into a bribery scandal involving popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, and operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
An audio leak released by social media activist, VeryDarkMan, indicated that Bobrisky claimed that he paid a N15 million bribe to EFCC officials in exchange for the dropping of his Money Laundering Charge earlier this year.
The NBA described the allegations as “deeply disturbing” and emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the investigation.
They urged the EFCC to thoroughly examine the claims to determine if there was any misconduct by its officers.
Meanwhile, immediately the news broke, the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, ordered an immediate internal probe to assess the validity of the allegations.
