Senator Elisha Abbo from Adamawa North has threatened to sue a married woman, Wange David for accusing him of sleeping with her and secretly recording it.
It would be recalled that a video of a man and a married woman having full s3x recently circulated in Yola, Adamawa and became a social media phenomenon.
Some netizens immediately accused Abbo of being the one in the video even though his face did not show.
The senator immediately called the press to dissociate himself from such an act, stressing that it was ridiculous for people to identify the man in the video with only his legs that were captured in the clip.
A lady, identified then identified as Mrs Haske Miriam Kwaga, later issued a video statement where she apologised to her family for bringing them shame and then accused Abbo of causing the embarrassment by recording their bedroom activities without her consent.
A few days later, a man stepped up to claim that he was the one who slept with the married woman and not Abbo.
He claimed he had been sleeping with her for some time without knowing she was married. He also claimed he had more video evidence, but has yet to release it.
Abbo’s legal representative, Odiyowvi Osusu, has now issued a threat of legal action against the lady. The lady was identified as David Wange in a cease and desist letter. The senator’s legal team said her claims had greatly harmed Abbo’s personal and professional image and misinformed the public.
The letter highlights that the video in question was published on the “Naija Police: U” platform on September 4, 2024, and an interview was broadcast by TrustTV News on YouTube the following day.
Osusu demanded that David issue a public retraction and apology within 72 hours. This retraction must be aired on national TV and published in three national newspapers, with the terms subject to approval by Abbo’s legal team. Additionally, the retraction should be circulated on the same platforms where the original content appeared.
Failure to comply within the given timeframe will lead to legal action seeking damages for libel, an injunction to prevent further publications, and a court-ordered retraction and public apology.
The letter warns that if a satisfactory response is not received, legal proceedings will be initiated against David.
