The Owa-Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, has joined his ancestors at the age of 86.

The news was broken in a statement, signed by Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Chief Yinka Fasuyi, on Thursday.

The monarch had been indisposed for some time creating anxiety across his kingdom.

Fasuyi in a tribute he sent to the Punch, wrote, “An Era Comes To An Abrupt End!

Among the early sympathisers was the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who took to X to pay tribute to the departed monarch on Thursday.

Atiku described him as being more than just a father-in-law but a symbol of courage, boldness, and discipline emblematic of the Ijesha people.

Aromolaran ascended the throne of his fathers on February 20, 1982, and spent 42 years before his demise.
