Nigerian lady sparks debate after vowing to ensure her male colleague is sacked and deported for sending her s3xual texts
A Nigerian lady in the United Kingdom has sparked a huge debate about workplace ethics after she openly vowed to get her compatriots sacked for making a pass at her in their office.
According to the lady, known as @Segilola__ on X, the male colleague just joined her office not up to a month and decided to send her a sexual text at 11 pm.
She said the man was married.
She wrote: “You just resumed in my office as a new researcher from 9ja less than a month, a grown man, married man and you’re sending me sexual texts at 11 pm if dem no sack you comot for this place call me bastard!!! Muritala will welcome you back soonest.”
Reacting to a question of how he got her number, she wrote:
“1. We have a group chat for researchers – all numbers are visible there
- As a new joiner, he has all of our numbers in case he needs help on softwares (matlab etc) or needs to ask us for help settling into the campus in general
- Other colleagues have my number as well”
Her tweet generated instant reactions, with some supporting her and some criticizing her for overreacting.
Those against her said it was not as deep as she was making it look, adding that she only needed to turn down the man’s request and warn him to desist.
They opined that what the man did was not enough to deprive him of his means of livelihood.
Segilola, however, stood her ground, replying, “He should have thought about his livelihood before making my own livelihood uncomfortable for me.”
@damiayomide: “That’s to the extreme. But if na white you no go rant. If sacking him and bringing him down will make you happy do as you like.
But why not give him a stern warning? Don’t let your action be the source of sacking a fellow man.”
@Mary_Showunmi: “You should send him an email, stating your displeasure or the next line of action if he doesn’t change. If he doesn’t change you escalate to senior managers, matron”
@kingberrykarter: “lol, My British colleagues has openly repeatedly suggested how they wouldn’t mind being with me if I wasn’t already married.
Relationship can happen anywhere!!!
There’s however a thin line between asking out, and stalking, or harassment…you have to be wise enough to know when (to) apply breaks, so you don’t overstep boundaries”
