Renames road after him
Enugu Governor, Peter Mbah has promised to take up the welfare of the Igbo folklore singer, Mike Ejagha, whose song was made viral by content creator, Brain Jotter.
Brain Jotter created a dance sequence for the little-known song, ‘Gwo gwo ngwo” and it was an instant hit, with thousands of Nigerians, including celebrities recreating it.
The video garnered over 10 million views.
The content creator later visited the old singer and gifted him N2 million in his home.
Today, the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah visited the viral highlife veteran in his home, promising that the state would take full responsibility for his upkeep, henceforth.
Mbah also renamed the popular Obinagu Road in Abakpa Nike Enugu, to Mike Ejeagha Road, after commissioning. The road leads to his house. It was among the four roads that was newly constructed and restored.
Pa Mike Ejeagha said Peter Mbah is the first government to honour him.
According to him, the others made promises that were never kept, but Mbah kept his own promise to rehabilitate the road leading to the singer’s residence.
Many netizens have taken to social media to thank the governor for his kind gestures to the legend.
Many others are however not too thrilled because they believe the success is coming too late in the life of the singer.
