Hackers have taken charge of the official Facebook page of the Kano Hisbah Board.
They registered their presence on the page by posting inappropriate and explicit photos and videos.
Videos of women breastfeeding their children were also posted on the page.
The Commander General of the Board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, who confirmed the disturbing development, stated that the situation had been addressed.
“Kano State Hisbah Board is aware that its Facebook page has been hacked and inappropriate things are being shared. On behalf of the board, I call on people to help solve this problem,” he said.
He assured the public that the board’s ICT department is actively working to restore the page and is engaged in discussions with Meta to resolve the issue.
The Head of ICT at the Hisbah Board, Sani Zailani, noted that the account had experienced previous hacks and that Meta had been contacted regarding the latest breach, adding that Meta had pledged to resolve the issue within 48 hours.
Meanwhile, some Nigerians have been reacting to the incident.
