The bodies of all but one of the six persons missing since a superyacht carrying British tech tycoon, Mike Lynch, capsized earlier this week in Sicily, Italy have been found.
The body of the tech billionaire was among those already retrieved by a battery of Italian divers deployed into the waters to find the missing persons.
It would be recalled that Mike Lynch, his wife, daughter and 19 others were on board the wife’s superyacht when it was caught in a violent storm off the coast of Sicily on Monday, August 19, 2024.
Nine crew members and six passengers were rescued.
The body of a crew member was recovered, remaining only a passenger, Hannah, the daughter of the late tycoon, yet to be recovered.
The tycoon’s wife, Angela Bacares, 57, who owned the ill-fated superyacht was among the earliest to be rescued.
The yacht is now nestled in 165 feet of water off the port of Porticello in Italy.
Reports indicated that the holiday in Sicily was planned by Mike Lynch’s family to celebrate his recent acquittal in a fraud case.
The tech entrepreneur had been accused of inflating the value of his company Autonomy, which was sold to the American IT giant HP.
The trial was on for about ten years before a San Francisco court acquitted Lynch in June.
They went on holiday to celebrate the win but Lynch never came back alive.
Some conspiracy theorists are now suggesting that there might be more to the death of the billionaire because on August 17, just two days before the yacht went under, his partner, Stephen Chamberlain, who was a former Autonomy executive and who faced fraud charges with Lynch, died in a car accident.
He was jogging when a car hit him so violently that he died.
