The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has condemned fraudulent activities in the mobilisation of graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), citing the University of Calabar in Cross River, which mobilised a roadside bread seller for service..
Ahmed said the bread seller had never attended the university.
Already, the NYSC had voided 101 certificates, bringing the total to 178 certificates invalidated by the scheme.
NYSC said it was part of its efforts to clean up its mobilisation process and ensure that only qualified graduates were enlisted.
Ahmed lauded the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Florence Obi, for her integrity in bringing the issue to light.
Professor Obi reportedly alerted the NYSC after noticing that unqualified individuals were being mobilized as graduates from her institution.
Ahmed said the scheme would continue to take stringent measures to maintain the integrity of the service.
