Domestic staff confess to k!lling their caterer boss after she gave them food in Ondo
Two domestic staff of a popular caterer, Olakunbi Adene have been arrested over her m$rder in the Oda area of Akure, the state capital.
The suspects admitted to the police that they k!lled their boss in her home where she had just treated them to a sumptuous meal to appreciate them for their role in her 54th birthday party.
The domestic staff, namely driver and personal assistant, settled down to consume the meal they were served, alongside a friend they took along, before teaming up to k!ll her.
They disappeared into thin air after the dastardly act.
A police source disclosed that the first suspect, the driver was tracked to Idanre, where he fled to while the second android phone was tracked to Akure.
Narrating the incident, one of them said the deceased cooked for them on that fateful Thursday and that after they were done eating the food, they grabbed her, gagged her mouth and inflicted wounds on her with the two cutlasses they brought along with them.
The suspect said the generator was on between 6 and 7pm when they carried out the act, and so the noise of the generator did not let any neighbour know what was happening in the apartment.
The suspects said they covered the deceased’s head with a duvet and continued hitting her head till she was lifeless.
They later cut her wrist and leg. To be sure she did not make it back to life, the other two men st@bbed the deceased in her stomach, chest and breasts.
In the process, her intestines were said to have been disgorged while the body was full of wounds.
To cover their tracks and make people believe it was a fire incident, the suspects went to the deceased’s kitchen and lit the gas with matches then opened the gas from the cylinder.
The suspects then covered the flames with rubber clothes to make it burn the whole house so that people would think the deceased was k!lled by a gas explosion from the kitchen.
However, the gas cylinder failed to explode as they planned.
The suspects took the late caterer’s ATM cards and two Android phones and fled the scene.
The younger brother, of Adene, Adebola Oyeneye, said he took the body to the mortuary and noticed that it was burnt in the stomach area.
The husband of the late caterer, Dele Adene said that there was a plan to conduct autopsy on the body later.
He said they tried to look for the knives used in st@bbing his wife as confessed by one of the suspects. He said the suspect confessed that when a knife broke, they took another one.
But efforts to trace the knife proved abortive.
Mr Adene expressed possibility of the knife being lodged in the belly of his late wife. He said this would be explored during the autopsy.
