The Nigerian lady, Mrs Igiebor, who tore up her husband’s passport has explained that her husband gave her a nightmare back in Italy.
It would be recalled that the video of the lady tearing her husband’s passport went viral on Sunday, August 11, 2024 after it was posted by a fellow passenger.
Explaining why she took the action on TikTok, the lady said her husband had been giving her a lot of trouble in Italy where they are based and this had affected her health.
Mrs Igiebor said she resorted to tearing his passport so that he could not leave Nigeria.
She said she was saddened by netizens’ comments, many of whom severely criticised and insulted her for her action.
Igiebor said she was particularly distressed that even her fellow gender were passing harsh comments without trying to understand why she did what she did.
She said she knew it was illegal to tear a passport and apologised to Nigerian Immigration.
“I am very sorry. I did it for my husband not to go back because I have seen so many things,” she said.
She said she had gone through pain and heartache.
“You do not know what I am going through,” she lamented.
Some netizens are speculating that it could be a prank considering the past videos of the lady and her husband on their TikTok page, Jejoja Family.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Immigration Service announced it had launched an investigation into the matter and promised to mete out appropriate punishment as listed in the relevant act.
