‘Rhasidat Adeleke’ is currently trending on Nigerian X (Twitter) after her brilliant performance inside the State de France sports arena clinching a space in the semi-finals of the women’s 400 metres at the ongoing Paris Olympic.

Adeleke won the race in a time of 50.09, ahead of Alexis Holmes from the USA who was second in 50.35.

Adeleke who was drawn in lane six, ran a fantastic opening 200m to put her ahead of her peers, and towards the finish line, she appeared to slow down.

Speaking on her performance later, she disclosed that she eased off according to her race plan for the event as she agreed with her coach, Edrick Floreal.

He performance has attracted wide recognition because she made her Olympic debut at Paris.

She said her goal was not just to come to the Olympics, but to do something special, “and that is what my goal will remain”, she added.

Rhasidat was born in Dublin, Ireland to Nigerian parents.

Her athletic prowess was spotted early, making her a star of athletics in her schools.

She has since grown to a national star, shattering a couple of sprinting records in Ireland, and then a global star flying the Irish flag in international competitions.

She made her debut at the Olympic games this year.
