The Federal Government has issued a travel advisory to Nigerian citizens over spates of anti-immigrant violence rocking the United Kingdom following the recent killing of three little girls at a concert.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, on Monday, August 5, sent out a statement signed by Amb. Eche Abu-Obe, noting that the violence had assumed ‘dangerous proportions’ in the last one day.
The ambassador advised Nigerians in the UK to be extra vigilant and avoid processions, protests and rallies of a political nature.
He also advised them to be self-aware at all times and avoid crowded areas and large gatherings.
The UK has been rocked by a series of violent protests by youths dissatisfied with the influx of immigrants into the country.
It is believed that a false narrative that an illegal immigrant seeking asylum in the UK was responsible for the k1lling of three girls at a party a few days ago.
While the perpetrator of the k1llings is black, he is a citizen of UK. Not many of the protesters know the truth or care about it as they chant slogans to the effect that Muslim immigrants should leave their country.
There have been clashes with immigrant communities and individuals of colour and security operatives are struggling to curtail the crisis.
