The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested one of the leaders of the ongoing hunger protest dubbed ‘Endbadgovernance’ in Abuja, Micheal Lenin.
It was gathered that Lenin was apprehended around 2 am at his residence in the Apo area of Abuja on Monday.
The Director of Mobilisation for the Take It Back Movement, Damilare Adenola, told the Punch that Lenin’s home was invaded by DSS officials who assaulted and then arrested him.
Adenola alleged that Lenin was assaulted in the presence of his family. He called for his immediate release.
Lenin is the National Coordinator of the Youth Rights Campaign. He was one of the organisers who spoke at a press conference where protesters expressed their disappointment with President Bola Tinubu’s broadcast on Sunday.
Lenin, at the conference, said the President’s broadcast demonstrated that he was out of touch with reality in the country.
Lenin also said the protest would continue massively today (Monday) and called on Nigerians to come out in large numbers to continue the protests until their demands were met.
He said the government’s repressive acts would not sway them.
