Former US President, Donald Trump, has revealed that his wife received the news of his close shave with death via a failed assassination bid earlier this month with trepidation.
According to Trump, his wife, Melania, was watching event live and when he went down, she feared the worst.
The Republican Presidential candidate was asked on TV about the former first lady’s reaction to his assassination attempt on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania.
He reacted that his wife was watching it live at the time. “It was all over the place, it was on television,’ he told Fox News host Laura Ingraham.
She said his wife could not even talk about it, ‘Which is OK because that means she likes me, or she loves me,’ he said.
He said he was not sure if it was a good or bad thing that his wife could not could talk about the incident freely.
Trump added that when he went down, his Melania thought the worst had happened.
The former president vowed to continue to hold outdoor rallies, despite the Secret Service reportedly advising him against doing so.
He said he would hold another campaign event in Butler soon, adding that he did not think he should be stopped by someone who had a mental problem “or whatever his problem was”.
Melania has been largely out of the public eye, even with the 2024 presidential election drawing closer.
She was, however, with Trump at his Republican National Convention acceptance speech.
