An American couple in Mexico for a birthday of one of them have been found d3ad in their hotel room in mysterious circumstances.
The couple, Lindsay and Nick Jordan travelled from Reno, Nevada, United States of America to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico to meet up with friends to celebrate Lindsay’s 46th birthday.
However, the next morning they failed to show up at a rendezvous with their friends to discuss plans for the day.
According to the narration by their son, Deven Simms, 21, the couple’s friends then tried to check up on them in their hotel room but were turned away by hotel workers and policemen.
According to Reno Gazette-Journal, the incident happened on July 14, but was reported this week.
Translated police records available to Deven indicated that they Mexican authorities believed the couple’s deaths were drug-related.
He, however, said the accounts in the various documents were not consistent, stressing that his father did not drink in his lifetime.
Deven also said he did not believe they overdosed on drugs.
He however faced an uphill task in his quest to have an independent autopsy conducted on the couple in the US because the authorities did not rule the deaths suspicious.
If it is not ruled suspicious, an autopsy will not be authorized.
Deven expressed frustration that the family would never know what indeed happened to his parents.
Deven has other siblings, Sammy, 12 and Haley Jordan, 19, both female.
According to Haley, the couple were travelling with friends from work.
She said the couple shared pictures from the resort in a family group chat on the first two days of the trip.
One of the pictures shared showed them smiling and having lunch at the resort, leaving the children feeling happy that they were enjoying themselves on the trip.
Their joy was cut short by a call to Deven announcing the tragic turn of events. He then called his siblings to inform them.
