The suspect held in connection with the murd3r of Daniel Anjorin, the 14-year-old British-Nigerian with a samurai sword, has been formally arraigned in court.

The suspect with dual Spanish-Brazilian nationality, Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, aged 36, was arraigned on Tuesday and slammed with several charges.

Monzo allegedly attacked 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin on April 30 a few minutes after he left his home for school in Hainault, east London.

Monzo is further accused of four counts of attempted mu¥der, wounding with intent, possessing a katana and a tanto – long and short Japanese swords, respectively – as well as a kitchen knife, and aggravated burglary.

Monzo attempted to also ki!ll 35-year-old dad and IT engineer Henry De Los Rios Polina, 35, He also hit Donato Iwule with a van, almost k!lling him.

Another count on his charge sheet also included attempting to mu¥der Sindy Arias and PC Yasmin Mechem-Whitfield, who is alleged to have suffered serious injuries in the attack.

The acccused also wounded Inspector Moloy Campbell with intent as he tried to resist arrest.

Bearded Monzo, of Satanita Close, West Beckton, east London, appeared at the Old Bailey on Tuesday via video-link from HMP Belmarsh wearing a grey prison tracksuit and spoke only to confirm his name.

Monzo was due to enter pleas today but the hearing was delayed.

Judge Mark Lucraft, KC, the Recorder of London, said Monzo would next appear for a case management hearing on September 23.

A three week trial date is set for February 3 next year.

The attack is said to have unfolded just before 7am on April 30 when a van smashed into a house in Laing Close, near Hainault tube station.

Prosecutors allege that Monzo then stepped from the van and began attacking passers-by with the sword before attacking 14-year-old Daniel.

The teenager was rushed to hospital but could not survive his horrific injuries and died shortly after.

He was the youngest of three children from a Nigerian family.

His mother Grace Anjorin, 49, is a science teacher and his father Dr Ebenezer Anjorin, 59, works as a health and safety consultant.

A post-mortem found Daniel died of sharp force trauma to the head.
