The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the arrest of 117 internet fraudsters from their raid of Regional Hotel, Iyana Ishasi, Lagos recently.
It would be recalled that the commission was in the news after its operatives stormed Regional Hotel and assaulted some ladies during a raid.
The chairman of the commission later directed that the officials captured on CCTV cameras assaulting a lady should be arrested.
Today, the commission officially released a statement on their mission at the hotel.
A statement posted on the commission’s X handle reads:
“Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 117 suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos.
The suspects were arrested at Regional Hotel, Iyana-Ishasi, Lagos in a sting operation, following verified intelligence about their alleged involvement in computer-related fraud.
Items recovered from the suspects, at the point of arrest, include mobile phones, laptop computers and four cars.
They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
