Armed robbers attacked a bank and the Abaji Divisional Police headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
The assailants, numbering about 15, invaded the bank and the police facility simultaneously around 5:00 pm and were engaged in a shootout by security officials.
A police officer and two of the suspects were killed during the clash.
The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said operatives of the command, in a combined operation with the military, engaged the armed men in a gun duel, leading to the casualties.
According to the PPRO, three suspects, including a reported leader of the criminal gang identified simply as Usman, were apprehended by the security agents.
It was gathered that angry mobs in the area set the body of one of the deceased suspects ablaze.
