A Nigerian man based abroad, Capt Shinz, has expressed his shock when he was introduced to a fellow Nigerian who left the country as a top bank auditor now working as a security guard in the United Kingdom.
Capt Shinz had gone to his old job in the UK when a staff there introduced him to a fellow Nigerian currently working for them as a store security guard.
It turned out to be a former top bank auditor in Nigeria who relocated with his family to the UK.
He wrote on X on Friday, “The day I knew Japa dey level people to the ground was when I went to one of our TK Maxx (old job) and was introduced to another Nigerian who was working as a store security, Man was one of the top Auditors in Access Bank when I checked his LinkedIn… I nearly cried.”
His tweet attracted a lot of negative reactions from people who dragged him for ridiculing his compatriot who was doing an honest job to put food on his family’s table.
Some others pointed out that the man apparently took the job to settle into the new society while working out his longterm plan.
They asked Capt Shinz to come back after five years to check him out and broadcast his findings as he had just done.
When Capt Shinz saw the torrent of negative reactions, he returned to X to write:
“For more context…. Tweet was made to indicate harsh realities people are facing when they have to leave everything behind and start over… No need to get triggered as this is in no way mocking someone who’s making moves to feed his family via hard work.”
