Residents of Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State have been thrown into mourning following a vicious attack by people believed to be Fulani herdsmen.
The attack reportedly occurred late Sunday evening, claiming a yet unknown number of lives, with many others critically injured.
It was gathered that the residents were mourning a departed member at Ugwuijoro Nimbo community when the assailants struck.
Some of those killed were identified as Okeh Simon Ugwu Oruku, Okeh Chukwuebuka, Julius Ogbonna Odiegwu and Gabriel Ugwor Ezea.
A video of the aftermath of the incident shows people crying and the cameraman can be heard saying that the invaders took the villagers by surprise and shot sporadically at the mourners.
Tables and chairs could be seen scattered in the compound where the mourners had gathered, with lifeless villagers also seen in the pool of their blood.
According to the Daily Post, Nimbo was also attacked in 2016, leading to the death of scores.
The incident attracted a nationwide outrage at the time.
