A trending video has shown bandits cracking jokes with an expatriate on an open field believed to be in Sokoto, in the northern part of Nigeria.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert identified one of the bandits shown in the video as Mai Jakka and the location as Gusau – Sokoto road.
Dreadlocked Mai-Jakka has a reputation for unrelenting kidnapping and ruthlessness. He reportedly neither covers his face nor disguises himself during operations.
According to Zagazola, he has now gone a step further by opening a TikTok account to post some of his activities on the social media platform.
The video currently trending shows one of the bandits saying “Hasbunallahu wa ni’mal Wakeel’, meaning, “Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs.”
Mai Jakka is seen with a rifle hanging on his right arm, as he jokes with a Caucasian man. He can be seen holding the white man from behind.
One of the gang members added “Here is a white man in the flesh,” as the white man jokingly urged the deadlocked gang leader to hold him well.
“Allahu Akbar! The deadlocked man was not killed. It’s a fat lie. He was not killed.” he added.
Zagazola Makama wrote: “Zagazola – Dreaded bandit kingp8n Mai-Jakka is shown cracking jokes freely with one of d construction company’s engineers handling Gusau – Sokoto road. Mai Jakka has maintained presence on Tiktok account freely boasting of how he was carrying out attacks ”
Netizens have been reacting to the video with many expressing surprise at the brazen display of lawlessness and absolute disregard for the government of the day.
Some also wonder if the bandits are actually Nigerians judging from their appearances.
An X user, @Anikulapolawale, worte: “Please, are these people Nigerians?
I grew up among the Northerners in Lagos, I have never seen any northerner that look like these guys.”
