Barber hailed for letting an exhausted customer sleep in his chair for three hours in Australia

A barber is being hailed in Australia for allowing an exhausted customer to sleep in his chair for three hours after having his hair done.

Jordan Magasiva, who works for Barber Industries in the Westfield Kotara shopping mall in Newcastle’s West, Australia, posted the video of the incident on TikTok and it went viral.

The video showed the bearded man in his high-vis work gear sound asleep with his head slumped back on the barbershop chair.

Mr Magasiva, 27, told Daily Mail Australia on Friday that he let his regular client Billy sleep after getting his hair and beard trimmed on Wednesday because he’s a ‘hard worker’.

‘To see the look in his eyes, just really tired, so we all decided we would just let him sleep,’ Mr Magasiva said.

‘It was definitely a team effort to make him as comfortable as possible. We even put the cover on his eyes.

‘He’s a good client of ours and usually goes to the barber chair. He’s always in high spirits.’

In the video, which has gained 6.6million views, Jordan provides time stamps showing a dozing Billy in the chair at 3.14pm and then at 5.38pm when he wakes up and gives a sheepish smile.

Billy’s first words on waking up were ‘What time is it?’

‘He was in disbelief,’ Mr Magasiva said.

‘He said “where is everyone?” There was only one other customer in the store but when he came in there were many more. He was definitely surprised.’

Mr Magasiva said Billy had come in for a fade haircut and to get his beard trimmed into shape.

He fell asleep soon after the work started, with the job taking about 30 minutes.

It is not that unusual for people to fall asleep in the barber’s chair, Mr Magasiva said.
