Lady abducted by women in Hijab in Lagos reunites with family (Video)

A lady simply identified as Basirat is lucky to be alive after being rescued from suspected kidnappers in Lagos.

Basirat was allegedly abducted on Sunday, February 11, 2024, after boarding a minibus popularly known as Korope in Surulere, Lagos.

The victim reportedly said the bus had many women in hijab, which gave her a false sense of security.

Her final destination was Ijaye Ojokoro, Lagos, but she never got home.

All her family saw was a text message saying that she was kidnapped.

The ladies in hijab reportedly brought out daggers with which they threatened her to surrender all her valuables and obey everything they told her.

Apparently, the lady had two phones and gave up only one to the kidnappers. With the second one, she was able to send out a text as soon as she was left alone for a moment by her abductors.

Basirat’s family reportedly involved the police who tracked the phone to a location but did not find the victim or the abductors there.

The family said the police was able to trace the phone to a new location but the abductors had moved before they got there.

The police chase reportedly gave the abductors a hint that someone was giving out information about their movement. They reportedly searched all their abductees and found the phone Basirat used to send the text.

She was reportedly beaten blue and black and the phone and SIM were destroyed before they threw her out of a vehicle.

She has now been reunited with her family.

A Microsecondnews reporter sighted a message shared on the residents’ platform to update them about Basirat. The message was accompanied by a video showing the lady who still appeared shaken by the experience.

Read their message below and the narration of what happened as provided by a colleague of the victim:

“One of us was rescued today from the hands of kidnappers. We thank God.

Hello everyone,

Kidnapping is no longer happening in the bushes or along deserted roads, it is happening here in Lagos.

Today Feb 11th, 2024 around 2 pm, a colleague of mine entered a korope bus around Surulere only for her to send message that she was kidnapped.

Her phone was tracked and the police intervened by busting two locations but the kidnappers were also changing locations.

To God be the glory, the kidnappers sensed one of the persons kidnapped was sending out information.

They searched my colleague, collected her phone, broke her sim, beat her up and pushed her out of the vehicle.

The most interesting part of the whole matter is that the kidnappers were women wearing hijabs carrying daggers under their hijabs. We used to think when we have more women in a bus it is safe but it’s actually far from the truth.

Let’s be careful and prayerful  may God continue to keep us safe.”
