“I will arrest you if any of this is untrue” – Activist VeryDarkMan threatens man who claimed his siblings were abducted
Popular activist, VeryDarkMan, has threatened to arrest Daniel Yunusa, who claimed to have been attacked by kidnappers while driving to Kogi State with his siblings and friends.
Daniel Yunusa claimed he escaped from the kidnappers in the bush and posted a video claiming not to know where he was and asking for bloggers to help him publicise the story.
But many found his story hard to believe considering that his page is full of pranks and related content.
Many also found it strange that he claimed not to know where he was when he had his phone with him to send a video and tag popular blogs. Some netizens wondered why he could not use Google Maps to get an idea where he was.
He later made another video showing a hole in his car purporting it to be from the kidnappers’ bullet. He also showed himself conducting some men in army uniform around his car.
Next, he posted a video of four people blindfolded and surrounded by armed men dressed in army camouflage. Even though the men were blindfolded, they seemed to know that they were being filmed and were pleading directly to the camera.
Afterwards, he made another video with some people believed to be his family members begging kneeling down, begging Nigerians to donate money to cover the N200 million ransom that the kidnappers had purportedly demanded to free his siblings and friends.
VeryDarkMan believed his story sounded hollow and his videos appeared contrived.
He called on the public not to send him any money because he was hoping to cash in on the abduction trend happening across the country.
The activist said he had told his police friends to investigate the case to determine its genuineness.
He said: “I swear on my mother, I will make sure you spend a good time with the police if any of this is not true, in just 4days you posted your kidnap, posted car, posted the kidnapers video and now you are asking for funds, your only saviour will be if this is true.”
He said the same boy had contacted him once to find out how he could ‘blow’ (become popular).
He also disclosed that when the so-called abduction happened, Daniel did not call him but tagged all the popular blogs to carry the report and make it go viral.
“This is someone I know. Why did he not call me?” VeryDarkMan said, pointing out that the natural instinct of someone in that kind of situation would be to seek help to alert the police but rather Daniel was begging for the story to be trended.
He vowed to make Daniel sleep in a police cell if it turned out he was lying.
