A Nollywood actress, Ezinne Akam, has taken to X to announce that she was beaten up by a cabbie he got to take her from the Mainland to her residence in Igbo Efon, on Lagos Island.
According to her, she paid the driver the agreed fee upon arrival, but it was not immediately received by the cabbie, who therefore impounded her luggage.
According to Ezinne, she was willing to wait for the money to drop but the driver was impatient. He reportedly put her bags in his boot, went to sit in the driver’s seat and started the engine.
She said she did not want him to drive away with 0 her belongings and tried to stop him.
This allegedly infuriated the driver, who reportedly disembarked from the car and slapped the actress.
In the scuffle, she sustained injuries from which blood flowed in her hand.
She has reported the driver to InDriver, who responded by suspending the erring driver.
However, Ezinne said that was not enough, as she expected the man to be arrested by the app.
Read some of her tweets:
“A driver on inDriver just slapped and vandalized me.
He is the one on red. I sent him his money and showed him an alert. He said he can’t let me go unless he sees the money in his account. He confiscated my bag, I confronted him about it and he hit me on the face and injured my hand. Guys I’m bleeding.
We express our sincere apologies for the regrettable incident experienced by our passenger. In response to the unacceptable behaviour exhibited by the driver, we have implemented decisive measures, including the immediate suspension of the driver’s access to our platform.
To dig three cuts in my right hand. When people came around to see what happened he denied everything and accused me of injuring my own self.
I tried to confront him cos he quickly stepped back in the driver’s seat and turned on his engine to drive away with my bag in his boot. I held onto to his driver’s door so he wouldn’t get away. This man came down from the car and slapped me, then used his key or something to”
