More information has emerged about the staff of Globus Bank, Amarachi Ugochuckwu, who committed suicide earlier this month.
It would be recalled that Ugochukwu locked herself up in a toilet in the bank and drank an insecticide, leaving a suicide note behind complaining about her figures being low, the economy getting worse and the future looking bleak for her.
A perusal of her professional profile on LinkedIn showed that Amarachi Ugochukwu was an outstanding graduate of the University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State.
She was the best-graduating student in her class in 2016.
At Zenith Bank, where she worked before joining Globus Bank, she was a star performer and headed a team that won a number of awards for its performance.
She apparently secured her new job with Globus Bank in May 2023 based on her sterling performance in Zenith.
She wrote on her LinkedIn profile: “Being the best and nothing less is my identity. I was awarded best graduating student from a pool of over a hundred students in 2016.
The Achievers team was top performer in 2019 increasing sales by over a 100% and I was the team leader.
Performing at my job with excellence and competence has given me the opportunity to work in three different units in the space of a year in Zenith Bank”.
It also appeared she realized she made a wrong career move with Globus Bank as her profile indicated that she was actively looking for other opportunities at the time of her death.
Her profile carried the “Open to Work” hashtag while working at the bank. However, the new opportunities she sought never materialised till she took her life in frustration.
May her soul rest in peace.
