The National Association of Nigerian Students has hailed the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for implementing automated passport registration today, January 8, 2024.
Tunji-Ojo had on Monday launched the online passport application portal to allow Nigerians to apply for their passport seamlessly.
He noted that Nigerian applicants who want 32-page passports with five-year validity would pay N35,000, while those who want 64-page passports with a 10-year validity would pay N70,000.
The association, through its Senate President, Akinteye Azeez, on Monday, described the online passport application portal as “a game-changer that would revolutionise the entire process, making it more efficient and convenient for everyone involved.”
NANS further described it as a fantastic step forward in embracing technology and improving the experience for passport applicants.
“Hon. Bunmi Tunji Ojo’s dedication to embracing innovation is truly commendable. By automating the passport registration process, He has shown a commitment to streamlining bureaucratic procedures and making them more user-friendly. This will undoubtedly save people valuable time and effort when obtaining their passports, allowing them to focus on other important aspects of their lives.
“By successfully implementing automated passport registration, the minister has shown his commitment to improving processes and making a positive impact on the lives of many. It is indeed an era of renewed hope for all Nigerians,” it added.
Meanwhile, foreign applicants, who wish to apply for passports with a five-year validity period and 32 pages, will pay $130, while those who prefer passports with a 10-year validity period and 64 pages will pay $230.
