A woman has been savagely killed by a crocodile as she waded in a river in Malawi.
Jennifer Selengo, 33, was with a group of female friends when she waded in the waters of Bua River in Nkhotakota District, Malawi, and a crocodile viciously attacked her.
The women and some nearby onlookers tried their best to free Jennifer from the jaws of the reptile in a rescue attempt.
Tragically, the attempt to save her proved futile and the woman, who hailed from Zozo Village in Dowa, succumbed to her injuries and died.
Jennifer is not the only woman to have been attacked by a large reptile since the start of 2024. A Florida woman was attacked in the United States by an alligator when trying to save a dog, leaving her bloody and bruised – But luckily still alive.
Gwen Cash had been taking her Rottweiler dog, Maximus, for a walk near her Pembroke Pines home when the gator rapidly approached her pet. Luckily she managed to think fast to save her dog and protected him by putting her arm around his chest as the alligator aimed towards his neck.
The pet-owner managed to pull her dog away and take him back inside, but she was left with gaping wounds on her arm after the beast scratched her.
