Popular Ugandan LGBtQ+ activist st@bbed on his way to work
Blames it on climate of hate
A popular Ugandan LGBTQ+ activist is fighting for his life after he was st@bbed on his way to work on Wednesday by unknown assailants on a motorbike.
According to The Guardian, Steven Kabuye, 25, suffered knife wounds and was left for d£ad in the attack on the outskirts of the capital Kampala before being found by local residents.
Kabuye told detectives investigating the incident that he had been receiving d£ath thr£@ts, according to a statement issued by police spokesperson Patrick Onyango.
“According to Mr Kabuye, two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle, wearing helmets, approached him. The passenger jumped off and att@cked him, specifically targeting his neck with a knife,” Onyango said.
Speaking on his hospital bed, Kabuye blamed the attack on the increasing ‘climate of hate’ against the LGBTQ community, principally propelled by politicians.
He argued that politicians are shifting focus away from things that matter by whipping up sentiments against the LGBTQ community.
