No sign of visible violence on man found dead inside his car in Edo – Police
Valuables stolen by suspected robbers
There was no sign of visible violence found on the body of a man found lifeless behind the wheel of his Toyota SUV car in G.R.A, Benin City, Edo State.
According to police investigators, there were only signs that some persons searched the deceased for valuables possibly after he had died.
Recall that a man was found dead while still fastened to his seatbelt at Ikpokpan junction on Thursday morning, December 21, 2023.
Police investigators found the man with his trousers pockets and the interior of his car ransacked by suspected robbers.
Investigators at the Homicide Section, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Edo Police Command are attempting to identify him and reach out to his family, as his phone is missing.
Spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the incident said that the only available clue is a hotel receipt with the name Dr. Eromon David.
“The corpse was found inside a dark blue Toyota 4Runner with Registration number Lagos FKJ-39 FB at Ikpokpan junction, G.R.A, Benin City, this morning (Thursday),” the PPRO stated.
“When officers searched the vehicle, they discovered that the phone of the man and other valuables were missing because the vehicle was ransacked.
“Even the body of the dead man was ransacked to the extent that his pockets were turned inside out, meaning that they tampered with the trousers pockets.
“Three copies of lodging receipts by the name of the University of Benin. When we checked the name on the receipts, we saw Dr. Eromon David. Investigation is ongoing.”
Nwabuzor added that investigators would determine the cause of death and address other issues related to the incident.
