‘How we almost got kidnapped in Lagos’ – Two young ladies

Two young ladies have taken to social media to warn their mates to be more careful when using ride-hailing apps.

According to them, they booked a ride from The Palms Shopping Mall for Shoprite at Lekki only for a man to turn up with a car that did not match the description on the app, even though the face looked the same as the face of the driver on the app.

They said the man convinced them that he was the same person who had two cars, but left the other one behind because there was not enough fuel in it. They bought his explanation.

The second mistake they made, according to the ladies, was that they started pressing their phones and did not pay attention to where the man was going.

One of the ladies said an alarm she set to remind her to post something on social media for 9 pm jolted her to the reality that they had spent more than the required time to get to their destination.

One of the ladies said before she could speak, the phone of the driver rang and she could hear him speaking with someone in Yoruba, saying “They are with me” while telling the person he was coming with them to Egbeda.

She said she did not want the man to know that she heard Yoruba, and simply told him they wanted to end the trip because it had taken them far too long on the trip and she was not sure the mall would be open by the time they reached there.

She said the man resisted and tried to convince them to continue, at which point she said she offered to pay him N7000 instead of the N6,500 the trip should cost.

She said the man grudgingly allowed them to disembark in the thick traffic while still complaining.

That was how God saved them from being kidnapped, she said.
