A woman, Masidat Kassim, has taken to social media to warn fun seekers to stay away from Giwa Gardens this festive occasion to avert a tragedy.

She said she was almost killed when she landed in the pool and hit her head on the tiles.

She lamented that the tiles had no rubber overlay as it is standard practice with similar facilities outside Nigeria.

Read her post:

“This morning I went to @giwagardens @keji_giwa with my family to have fun and it did not end well.

The pools are too shallow for the long slides, my daughter hit her head when she went on it and came back to tell me I shouldn’t go…I thought she was exaggerating, I went on the slide and hit my forehead head on the tiles in the pool, I have been to at least 5 water parks in different countries, there is always a rubber laid in all the pools, my head hit the tiles directly and my lips caught into two.

The first accident I had was at the river, I tumbled in the tube and the back of my head hit the tiles, I left immediately with my daughter not knowing a bigger one was coming…

The staff did not even see it as a big deal!!

It took them almost 15 mins before I saw one who took me casually to the nurse.

The first aid service is wack!!!

No good plaster available!

Am not here looking for attention, I am just trying to save another victim from this disaster. @lagosstategovt Please go to @giwagardens and do the necessary quality control check before they k## people.

Go to @giwagardens at your own risk

I informed the management immediately that the slides should be closed, up until I left it wasn’t closed!!!”

The management of the facility has responded to her post.

“Dear Masidat,

This is Keji Giwa here, owner at Giwa Gardens. I spoke to you when you had the incident and made sure you saw the medical team right away.

First of all we will like to sincerely apologise your experience and i had to go watch the CCTV and yes you are right that you held on tight to the floating foam protector however you let go as soon as you landed which caused you to hurt your lips. The instructions is to keep holding it even when you land in the pool as we followed the guidelines for the slides.

We chose to add an extra floating foam protector and the life guard’s instruct you hold on to it, even when you land in the pool.

Nonetheless, what happened should never have happened and as a result we will investigate how make sure customers never drop the floating foam protector once they hit the water.

We value you as a customer and more than happy to give you a free premium ticket on your next visit with food & drinks included.

Please feel free to reach out to us if you need anything.

Regards

Keji Giwa”
